Twenty years. Same problem.
I'm Simon Tregunna. I've been building software for more than twenty years, working across banking, telecoms, retail, compliance, startups and businesses of my own.
The industries change. The problem usually doesn't.
There's a process running on paperwork or spreadsheets. Systems that don't quite connect. Useful information sitting somewhere nobody can really use it. Sometimes there's simply an idea for something that doesn't exist yet.
That's the part I like.
I understand how it works, find the logic underneath it and turn it into software.
Over the years that's meant business onboarding for Barclays, support systems for BT and product configuration for Laura Ashley. More recently it's meant regulated financial platforms, mobile products, food production systems and software that uses data and AI to understand what should happen next.
I bring the engineering. You bring the business knowledge. We work out what better looks like and I build the software to get us there.
How I work
Three things that don't change

Understand it before building it
I start by understanding how the business works today, where the opportunity sits and what you want to change. From there we can work out what the software actually needs to do.

Choose the right way to build it
The answer might be a website, a custom application, an integration or something using AI. The technology comes from what we're trying to achieve.

Build it properly
Testing, accessibility, version control and deployment are part of the build. The result should work well, be maintainable and make sense to whoever works on it next.

A few useful answers
Is Method7 an agency?
No. Method7 is my software studio. I lead the engineering and work directly with the people I'm building for, bringing in trusted specialists when a project needs them.
What size of project do you take on?
Anything from a focused website or integration to a new digital product or substantial existing application. The size matters less than what we're trying to achieve.
Can you work with software that already exists?
Yes. Sometimes the answer is to build something new. Often it's to understand what's already there and make it better, safer or capable of doing more.
Do you build with AI?
Yes, when it makes the software genuinely more useful. I build agentic systems myself but AI isn't the starting point. What the software needs to do is.
